Origin Introduces Partner Mode: A Smarter Way for Couples to Take Control of Their Money—Together

With flexible account-linking and no added fees, Origin makes it easier for partners to stay financially aligned.

SAN FRANCISCO, APRIL 30, 2025Origin, the all-in-one personal finance app that’s reimagining how people manage, build and protect their wealth, today announced the launch of Partner Mode, a completely reimagined product experience to help couples better manage their money together. The new features were built to empower partners to manage their money with greater clarity, transparency, and control – no matter how they choose to share their finances – with improved financial views and shared budgeting features. The new couples features are included at no extra cost and will begin rolling out to users today.

There's no one-size-fits-all approach to combining money in relationships. Whether couples merge everything, keep finances fully separate, or fall somewhere in between, financial tools have largely failed to reflect the reality of modern partnerships. As couples redefine long-term relationships, delay marriage and make their own rules, financial platforms need to keep up. Origin solves this disconnect by offering a thoughtful, flexible suite of features to support how everyday couples handle their money today.

Here’s what’s new in Origin’s Partner Mode:

  • Shared Home for Finances: Couples can now connect and view all their financial accounts – across both individuals – in one place. From checking and savings to credit cards, loans, retirement, and investments, users can track total net worth, monitor spending, and stay aligned on goals with complete visibility. This allows couples to better plan for their future and understand what’s within scope as they build a life together.

  • Personalized Toggles for ‘Yours, Theirs, and Ours’: Every couple’s finances are different. Origin now makes it easy to toggle between individual, partner, or combined financial views. Whether users want to check their own budget, see shared investments, or understand the full household picture, it’s all just a click away.

  • Collaborative Budgeting: Users can create shared budgets, track transactions as a couple, and work together on spending goals.

How it works:

Users who want to collaborate with their partner on finances can invite their other half to join the app at no extra cost. Once connected, each user can link their financial accounts to get a unified snapshot of their finances—including checking, savings, investment, retirement accounts, and overall net worth. For couples who prefer to share only part of their financial picture, the app allows them to link only the accounts relevant to their shared goals, offering both autonomy and flexibility.

"Through our research, we've learned that there's typically one CFO of each household," said Atul Kakkar, Chief Product Officer at Origin. "We developed our couples features to cater to that dynamic, while also making it accessible to users who take a more active role in managing their finances with their partner. Together, couples can monitor their spending, investments and net worth, as well as how they're tracking towards their budgeting goals."
