At Origin, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it
At Origin, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it.Origin’s mission to provide financial guidance to every employee everywhere requires us to partner with forward-thinking employers and large financial institutions. Every day, Origin users trust us with their personal information, connect their bank, credit card, and investment accounts to our platform, and get personalized financial guidance with the information they share with us.
The trust of our partners and the information our users bestow on Origin is never taken lightly.
Financial information is both personal and powerful. Origin responded to that responsibility by rising to the occasion and focusing on privacy and security from day one. It was the right thing to do.But just doing the right thing is not enough. We needed to show how seriously we took the privacy and security of our partners, customers, and users. That’s why we are proud to announce that Origin received its SOC 2 Type 2 certification last month. More than that, as co-founder and CTO, I want to explain what this means to you and why you should be just as excited.
SOC 2 is the industry standard for companies that deal with and store sensitive customer data. Origin was awarded this certification, which means we’ve passed a rigorous assessment of our security practices and controls by a trusted external auditor, following the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants guidelines. Type 2 means that an independent auditing and accounting firm reviewed and tested Origin’s controls during a 6-month period. It ensures that Origin kept the highest industry standards when it comes to keeping data safe and private. It includes everything from physical security to encryption standards, from employee training to background checks–and more.
SOC 2 compliance is just one aspect of our commitment to security. We built Origin using secure cloud infrastructure, best-in-class encryption protocols, strong authentication controls, and round-the-clock monitoring to quickly respond and resolve potential issues.
We believe in creating a safe and secure financial environment and pushing our partners to follow best-in-class security practices.
Achieving SOC 2 Type 2 certification ensures our customers, our partners, and our users that Origin is committed to maintaining the integrity of its systems and the privacy and security of its data for the long haul. If you’re an Origin customer or considering our product, you can contact us to talk to our team, learn more about our privacy and security approach, and read the full SOC 2 Type 2 report. Our team will be happy to walk you through all the ways we protect your data and make sure you feel secure in sharing any sensitive information with us. And if you have any questions about how we safeguard customer data, just ask. We want nothing more than for you to feel confident in trusting us with your sensitive information. We’ll continue to look for new ways to strengthen our security in 2021 and beyond.
