Guilherme currently lives in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and has been an Original for almost 1.5 years. When he’s not at work, he loves to unwind by going to the gym, spending time with his girlfriend, and going on long drives. ‍Q. What made you want to work at Origin? I wanted to work on an early-stage startup with a product I like that could impact people's lives. Around the time I joined Origin, I was fascinated by the world of investing and finance, so the company was a perfect fit for me.Q. Can you give us a behind-the-scenes look into a typical day at Origin? The day of a software engineer at Origin is focused on coding and communicating. Communication is very important for us, which is why we use tools like Slack and Discord. We use these platforms to ask each other questions, join daily meetings, or just chat over a virtual coffee. When we’re not doing that, our team is coding or designing screens and the system architecture.Q. What does financial wellness mean to you?To me, financial wellness means freedom. It’s about being able to take a sabbatical when I want to or having the ability to start different projects without worries—like launching my own startup, owning a restaurant, or even working as an investor.Q. What’s the best financial advice you’ve ever received? Unfortunately, financial education isn’t a key part of Brazil’s culture. The default mindset here is to own a house, buy a vehicle, and work forever. Luckily, being in tech, I had access to financial influencers and was inspired to learn how to start investing on my own.Q. What’s one thing that people interested in working at Origin should know? You should know that Origin is a company that cares about you as much as it cares about its users.
